Viva Las Vegas

Hey Dubai Sunshine, Sky and NZM ... I can take pictures as well you know! :P

Here are a few snaps of my trip to Vegas. Now i am sure you understand i can't publish ALL the vegas shots i have cause you know that "What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas" ;)

New York, New York Hotel. The original Cayote Ugly bar is there. Very entertaining.

The Bellagio. In my humble openion, I think it has the classiest Casino in Vegas. Oh, and the dancing water fountin/show thing is just out of this planet.

MGM Grand. I stayed there.. Home of KA theater and the Best club in town (Studio 54). But way too packed over the weekend!

Luxor. Another themed casino. Other than the pyremid shaped building, didn't see anything special about it.

Paris Las Vegas. Nice place, good places to eat there. All indoor signage are in English-French (Le Casino, Le Bathrooms, Le Shoppe ...etc)

The Excalibur. A 'Knights of the Round Table' themed hotel and Casino. If you were passing by and had 10 minutes to spare, you can pop in for a quick look. Can't promise anything fancy though... wasn't for me atleast.

Aaaah .. The Mandalay Bay. Now thats a very nice place! Not too packed, not too empty, no special themes, almost the right balance for someone who wants to enjoy a good "vegas" exprience while recieving luxury 5-star treatment. Oh, and the pool area around lunch time weekends is just H.O.T. ;)

Sorry for the blurry photo here, i should get myself one of those mini tripods.

Caesers Palace was also one of the hotels i liked. They have a HUGE retail annex. You can spend a whole day there without realising. If you like Celine Dion, he show is there.

  • Great shots!

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas - did you get the t-shirt with that printed on the front? :-)

My Paris Casino image that I took in 1999 won me a Silver Merit in the NZ Professional Photography Awards in 2001. I shot it from the Bellagio looking back over the lake with a whole lot of smoke coming off the lake that was part of the light and fountain show.

Bellagio is also my favourite, but we stayed there last year when we attended an IBM thing, and it's not that great room-wise - at least, the room we got was dark and the fridge was so noisy that we had to unplug it so that we could sleep!

We liked staying at Mandalay Bay though.

My parents stayed at the Venetian and also enjoyed that.

Looking forward to your NY pics too!

  • hey dude.. 3anjad fazee3!
why leave dubai to take pictures of las vagas?
we can teach these guys a thing or two about extravagance, just take any Dubai Land brochure or Palm brochure and it'll look tackier than all of Las Vagas put together :)

too bad the finished article is not yet ready in Dubai yet, it's all coming soon!

  • Sounds like you had a blast in the big ol' US of A. You didn't mention anything about the hotdogs in NY - did you eat any off the street? NY is supposed to have the best!

And nice pics! I need to use my camera more and upload pics from Spain on my blog! Here it's such a pain to take your camera anywhere though, coz its bound to be lost!

  • Nice pics Mory....It's about time you posted them :p

I'd like to go to Vegas one day...It's not on my "must visit" list, there are many other places I'd rather see. But it must be a fun experience nevertheless...

  • nzm - not as good as your award-winning shots :)

Buj - wallahi shoof, many are saying Dubai is following vegas' lead in order to create a similer attraction for people who can't/won't cross the Atlantic to go visit. But vegas is not just themed buildings and site seeing.. its a totally different experience. I spent 5 days there. I highly doubt there can be any thing similar to it. (when i see you in person i will give you more detail)

    Sky - nice try :P

Abha – I know what you mean. I was carrying my camera everywhere.. the thing is, you don't know when/what you might come across something that’s worth snapping a pic off. That’s why i really like the new Sony Erricson mobile phone that comes with an embedded Cybershot camera. You can take decent quality pics and not have to carry two gizmos.

BabyK - looooads of funny story. I think my most of my upcoming posts will be about things that happened in to me in the US. Stay tuned :)

DS - its a must-do-experience. I always heard people talk about it with passion and excitement and i always thought to myself: why are they so psyched up about a place that has nothing but casinos everywhere.. I was wrong. There is soo much
