  • Ya salaam! Lissa ma fi progress?

    Well I reckon you should be awarded the star or patience or something. How is baby M holding up? It must be so warm now?

    What is the next step?

  • Pure Genius!
    I think this is gonna piss him off bigtime.. ur twat of a landlord.

    oh.. and i don't like the way the article ended.. i don't give a feck about what the landlord thinks.. THAT'S ALL IRRELEVANT until there are proper services operating.

    he shouldn't be allowed to comment. bugger him to barsha.

  • How are you all putting up with this is beyond me. If I were the accused I would compensate the victims by giving them back the rent money for all the days they were left in the dark beyond the initial promise date.

  • Hi Mory;
    I read the story this morning and I thought it must be related to your situation, I feel for you man, you know what we usually say in Arabic, 'bitter Patience will turn out sweet honey'
    Inshallah that now things have reached the media, the problem will get some serious attention..

  • Moryarti, I do understand that it is not easy to move out, but it is even harder to suffer like this. We are talking major time here, not a day or two. And the wee baby too. Haram. You should have hauled all of their arses into the police station every single day until they offered you alternative accomodation. One thing I know is that you have 3 options, wasta, police or Economic Dept (where you complain about any service that has been paid for but not rendered in the correct manner).
    I wouldn't care about ANYONE else right now, just myself and you need to get MAD and soon.

  • Invest in a villa. Living in apartment buildings must really suck. But at least when something goes wrong like your problem, the wife cant blame you...and you can just say its the landlords fault.

  • CG - I couldn't speculate what would the reaction be from the landlords side. I was still a renegade in my bachelor days, they would've definitely had a taste of my Levantine wrath; but with a wife and a baby tagging along, I would not take any chances. It was really lousy in Feb when we went thru the whole month with NO AC what so ever. It was then that we went really crazy. And it was then when they switched on one AC unit in every apartment that people calmed down a bit.

    We gave the bastards a month (March) and nothing happened. In April the tenants started signing petition forms, holding meetings and acting collectively.

    We were paying for services that we don't get. Mind you the facilities, we were missing half of our basic utilities: Electricity and Telecommunications. People were getting very pissed off.

    It was then that "someone" had to do something and alert our friends the media. And i really really really thank Gulf news for doing this; because believe it or not, at 3pm yesterday; we received a notice that DEWA connection will be completed on the same day.

    Was it a coincidence that DEWA people pulled their acts together on the same day our building's story was in the paper? I highly doubt it.

    Jassim- That is the master plan. But we had to move back to Dubai quickly, so we had no choices. But we are in the market now for a decent villa. If you know any, give me a buzz.
