Its just another day on Al Ittihad Highway

3:10 PM Accident on Al Ittihad highway - man was run over while trying to cross a 5 lane motorway. I feel bad for the driver.

3:15 PM - A rubber-necker rammed into the car infront of him, causing another accident on the other side of the same road.

3:25 PM - Anjad (Sharjah Police) dealing with two accidents, on both sides of the same street.

So, do you still wonder why we have too many accidents in this place?

  • Oh, how predictable. There cannot be a bump on one side without a pile up on the other...
shame about the guy who got run over, but it seems to be such a regular occurence. We are becoming de-sensitized to it all.

  • Just imagine what it's going to be like when we have Metro trains, monorails and light rail running alongside the busy roadways.

The rubberneckers will be out in force - look out for those Sunnys, Echos, Tiidas and Corollas which will slow down or stop just to have a gawk!

  • This will sound bad for me to say. But the man running across the road who got hit..deserved it. How many times have i driven down Emirates Road or SZR and play dodge the laborer. The stupid thinking of just one of these guys can causes hundreds of deaths on a highway , with a pile up one of these days.

  • The driver's life as he knows it is over!

  • CG, you are so right about accidents beinga regular occurence...

NZM, I hope they end up using it instead of staring at it :)

  • JASSIM, RnD Mr. Poussah and Anon... Lets hope non of us is ever placed in that situation. The law/accountability about running people who cross sh zayed road or other major highways seems to be really vague.

And Jassim, yes.. I am sure the guy who got hit learned that it was a really really stupid idea..

Marwan.. i was begining to wonder where you are .. how have you been bro?

  • the FIRST feeling I had was ENVY.

The FIRST thing I saw was Al Mukhtar!

Man you can just jump down and get the best food practically freeeeee! lucky you.

Of course RIP to the pedestrian. People should be more careful as pedestrians, drivers, and drivers on the other side.

    Idiots are not an excuse.

  • NZM, that's why the new metro trains are driverless!

By Blogger BuJ, at January 5, 2007 at 12:54 AM

  • LOL@buj & AL Mukhtar....trust a man to see food first.

By Blogger CG, at January 6, 2007 at 9:54 AM
